Look Inside and Find Out

Look great now—and what you can do to look even better by next month.

Is there such a thing as “instant” beauty?Yes and no. Some products can give you a quick and effective fix when you need it most—like the time your high school reunion fell the same week you had absolutely no sleep. Other products need time, and that’s good, too, because they actually heal the skin for a truly natural glow.

One month

You can find a lot of super-powered but affordable skin regimens that can dramatically reduce the signs of skin aging. You can even start to see the result within a week, but the most important thing is to keep on using the product, REGULARLY. In fact, it’s best to stick to something for at least a month. Other things to consider.

  1. STOP THAT BAD BEAUTY HABIT!

“The biggest mistake any woman can make is to do a ‘buffet-style’ beauty regimen. We try one product for a few days, switch to another, switch back. Or in the takaw tingin mode, we mix several very strong products from different lines and use at the same time, thinking “if this works, five will work better!” This could irritate the skin. “It’s not how much you use but how regularly you apply.”

  1. DECIPHER THE LABEL

Emollients are oils that soften the skin while retaining moisture. This includes butters and mineral oils, but skin experts say lanolin, jojoba and squaline are closest to the skin’s natural sebum. Result:less likely to clog pores.

Elastin and Amino Acids help bind water to the skin, ideal for sun-damaged or dehydrated skin-but won’t help skin actually retain water. Soothing agents helps reduce redness and skin irritation. Good for sensitive or damaged skin. These includes Green Tea, Chamomile Extracts.

Antioxidants prevents damage from free radicals, but the packaging of the product’s crucial. These detoriate when expose to air and sunlight, so the bottles should be opaque. Small dispensers also minimize air exposure.

Alpha hydroxy acids (AHAs) and Beta hydroxy acids ( BHAs) clear pores and remove dead skin. Studies show how glycolic acid and lactic acid are most effective. Any product with AHA makes your skin more sensitive to the sun, so use sun protection. They are usually found in night moisturizers.

UVA and UVB protection protects your skin from sun damage, ideally at least SPF 15.

Vitamin A derivatives like retinoid supercharge your skin cell’s regeneration.

Confused by the labels and promises? We straighten out the facts!

They always say skin care really takes just three steps:  cleanse, tone and moisturize. So where do the spot correctors, serums and other specialty creams come in? And do they really do a good job or are we just harming our face by slathering all these products?

Skin care regiments are simple enough as long as you know how to use the products. “You don’t want to OD (overdose).Don’t be afraid to ask your in-store beauty experts on how to use it and how often. And when she’s explaining listen well!”

When do you use a serum?

After you cleanse and tone your face and before you put on a moisturizer. Jason Au,an expert dermatologist says the serum is the thing that gets results. The formula is more concentrated so the potency is greater. “And because it’s lightweight, it is able to penetrate the skin more easily. You put on a moisturizer with sunblock after the serum to seal in the protection your skin needs. The moisturizer makes sure that everything you put underneath does its job when you go out.”

Do you really need a night cream?

The night cream is your skin’s sealant and protector as you sleep. “Daytime cream is all about protection, but at night, it’s all about restoration.”Jason points out. Your body at rest has the capacity to heal and repair itself, but it still needs help. The night cream’s formula does the rest of the job on your skin. Make it even more efficient by applying serum first before the night cream.

How do you use a spot corrector?

Apply it on the dark spots, never on your whole face. We know that probably is common sense, but Jason agrees that many still think it works like a moisturizer. “They think the process will be hastened by putting on more. That’s a big mistake, and as some who did it know, misuse of the product can cause redness, skin irritation, and peeling.”It’s called targetted application, people. Use it before or after makeup.

What “whitening” or “brightening” products should I use?

First of all, don’t obsess over changing your skin color. You don’t want to dramatically bleach your skin but to make your complexion clearer and luminous so you look radiant and healthy. The worst “dark” skin is actually “dull” skin, caused by bad diet, sleepless nights, and aging. The best skin products will heal your skin from within, and even out your complexion so you look great even without several layers of foundation, concealer, bronzer, and finishing powder.

Two types of ultraviolet radiation,UVA nd UVB, damage the skin and increase your risk of skin cancer. Sunscreens vary in their ability to protect against UVA and UVB.

UVA and UVB protection protects your skin from sun damage, ideally at least SPF 15.

We live in an era today, where political, economic, and social events dominate and determine the outcome of people’s life and destiny. We cannot deny the fact that all nations are ruled by political parties that set-up a particular government best suited to the needs of the people to be governed within that nation.Even in local and domestic areas of life, there is a dominant political body that dictates and runs the local and domestic life of the community. For this reason, there is a need for someone to be chosen to head the government, the provincial or local areas, the community, the school body and many organizations. Thus, there is a need for choosing a leader to govern or to run the nation and the different levels or aspects of of our life.

The potential leaders formed their owned political parties, made necessary preparations on how to appeal and to win the masses through a campaign methods which is CAMPAIGN SPEECHES that is an  essential ingredient of winning the people unanimously. It would indeed be impossible for anyone who would run for a political office or non-political position without having to make at least a few stirring speeches.

You are going to be a potential leader in the near future.Involvement in the political affairs of the country,or the community, business organization or college activities will require participation in these matters. You will gave the desire to make changes if you see that there is no progress or development in the way of life. The status demands a change and you think that you are the one to take the necessary steps to change or bring about the       much needed reforms or changes to bring new life and better ways to improve the country, the community, business organization or the school where you belong.Since you believe that, one day, you will be a leader, you need to learn the techniques of making campaign speeches through effective public speaking.

FACTORS IN MAKING A CAMPAIGN SPEECH:

To win the election is your main goal as a potential president of a nation, business organization, or a university or a school. For this reason to achieve your goal- to win the overwhelming plurality of votes, you must remember the following factor-a singular and a specific message to deliver and a distinguished personality or extraordinary image you will demonstrate to the public when you run for the election.

As a potential leader, you must remember that what will win the election for you and will help you achieve your goal to be chosen president of a nation, head of a business organization, president in school officers and others will be the SINGULAR or SPECIFIC message that you will convey to the people who will vote for you.Of course, presenting the precise and essential message will go far in guaranteeing your success.

For example when Ferdinand Marcos campaigned for presidency in the 1960’s,his main message was “THIS NATION WILL BE GREAT AGAIN”……….or during the martial law years during the 1970’s,Marcos single theme was “SA IKAUUNLAD NG BAYAN DISIPLINA ANG KAILANGAN”.In the 1986 political campaign of Corazon Aquino for presidency, the exceptional message she delivered was “TAMA NA,SOBRA NA,PALITAN NA.” And these messages were carried on to every person in every part of our country-whether in the city,in the provincial areas,in the schools and most of the parts of the Philippines.During the election of 1986,observers believed that the late President Marcos would still win by a majority of votes over Corazon Aquino, the opposition candidate but the dramatic and extraordinary events that took place in the country changed the whole national situation and, through a tremendous and overwhelming display of PEOPLE POWER, Corazon Aquino was installed as the President of the Philippines. The stirring single message of  “TAMA NA,SOBRA NA,PALITAN NA” did produce the change of leadership.

“Media as Questionable Role Model”

Technology is everywhere. We can randomly see or witness it every single day of our lives. In the modern world that we live in today, technology give many benefits and ,of course, disadvantages. It comes with many subconcepts that we people are well informed of.

One of the things that has risen along with technology is Commercial advertisement.People, especially businessmen, took great advantage of the availability of this things.Commercial advertisements or simply known as commercials, are of great use for people. Its main purpose is to advertise products and make them publicly recognized.

They can be seen or heard anywhere.Commercials can be on television, newspapers, posters, billboards, computers, etc., but the most dominant source of commercial advertisement is the television. In a nation where everyone watches television, tv commercials receive high ratings and public acceptance. There is even a possibility that people would run their lives according to what commercial they have heard or watched.

Due to the jiggly jingles and the artists featured in the commercials, people hardly get over them. They’d be singing the jingles or site famous lines from commercials randomly.

But what do you think are the effects of too much reliance of people on commercials?

What do you think is the effect of commercials to children, to teenagers or to individuals?

Children see an average of 20,000 commercials each year. As stated earlier, commercials are catchy and entertaining—it’s likely that children have learned many slogans and jingles, and adults even remember some from their own childhood.

Commercials try to convince children that they need to buy certain foods, toys, and clothes—many of which they don’t actually need—to be cool and happy.

The effect is that they crave for certain things that they have seen on screen but is actually a little bit heavy in real life which makes it hard for the parents or guardians to cope up with what the children wants.

Jumping to teenagers or the
“in beTWEENS”, analyzing their inhalation of commercials and the way they react is somehow more manageable.

The problem is they sometimes forget to check out whether the product endorsed is truly compatible for them. When they like the endorser or they like the deliverance of the endorsement they try hard and give their best in order to avail it.

For individuals, commercials might be considered as part of entertainment, knowing that it lies between television programs and serves as short intermissions, we can easily think that it means nothing more than being television entertainers.

Lastly, Technology was made to help make things easier.Televisions were invented to help entertain people, Commercials were produced to enhance our acknowledgement to the things and people that surround us, so let us not waste all this things because of misusing and abusing our rights in order to take full advantage of them.

Gretchen fullido, one of ABS-CBN’s top entertainment correspondents. With her beautiful face and enthusiastic delivery of the news, this TV Patrol’s Star Patroller could also easily pass off as a celebrity! But when she thought about what she wanted to do with her life,Gretchen said she wanted to try something different. “I wanted to be the one who was asking questions.I like being able to get to know a person more.I’m that kind of person.”
Gretchen’s first on-cam  stint was when she was the courtside basketball reporter for the University of the Philippines (UP) Fighting Maroons, where she graduated in 2008 with a degree in Film and Audio Visual Communication.”I studied filmmaking,I love directing. So I told myself that if I don’t succeed as a broadcaster in front of the camera,I can always work behind the camera.”But fortunately enough, she was able to find her way as one of the country’s most popular showbiz reporters. She gained recognition not only for the hot stories she reports but also for her admirable passion sense. “Having passion for fashion is something natural for me,but I don’t try to dress up,It’s just that I learned more about fashion because of my job and because of the environment I’m in”,Gretchen shares. “I actually,or maybe subconciously, learn from the celebrities I interview! Kunwari ma-cu-cute-an ako sa outfit ng isang celebrity then I’ll experiment the look on myself.”
“Whatever makes you feel sexy or good,by all means, wear it! It’s not hiding what yoy want to hide, but highlighting your assets,”says Gretchen, who revealed that she considers her shoulder as her best asset because it sets the tone for her whole look and makes her waist look smaller. “I like to think I have  toned shoulders because I was a swimmer since I was six and I was also in the national team.”
“I’m a bit curvy so not all clothes will go well with my body type, but there are ways to make it look like a Coca-Cola bottle.I wear a garterized belt to highlight my waist and nice hips.” Gretchen also explained that she has a big bust so she also highlights it but still in a conservative manner. “It’s not about flaunting it.Bottom line is even if you’re wearing shorts, tsinelas, sando or anything,as long  as you feel like you’re rocking the outfit, just keep in mind that IT’S NOT THE CLOTHES CARRYING YOU.IT’S YOU CARRYING THE CLOTHES.”

For TV Patrol,”I have my stylist Franco Saycon.I am beyond blessed to have my very talented friend help me pick-up clothes.I always love what she chooses for me.
